A global brand
The ProModal® brand has been registered around the world in the name of Lenzing AG. As the name implies, Modal is an important component of this fiber blend. The Lenzing Modal® brand has an excellent reputation which has been established over several decades. Many brand manufacturers have Lenzing Modal® in their collections. Lenzing Modal®, the softening fiber, enjoys global recognition. Even the generic term, Modal, is directly derived from Lenzing because for decades it has been the only manufacturer of Modal fibers. Lenzing played a decisive role in building the market for this segment.
New possibilities
The success story continues with ProModal®. The unique fiber blend is setting a new course in the textile industry. ProModal® is used in segments where Lenzing Modal® is already successful, such as soft flowing tops and lingerie. It is possible to establish new trends in the Modal segment since the hand has the accustomed softness and a much greater volume.
Brand manufacturers love Lenzing Modal® and are no longer willing to do without this fiber from Lenzing in their collections. ProModal® is setting a new course in the Lenzing Modal® segment.

A good blend
The ProModal® innovation comprises the branded fibers Lenzing Modal® and TENCEL®. Both fibres have established themselves very well in the textile market. Lenzing Modal® is used by many brand manufacturers to make textiles particularly pleasant to wear and exceptionally soft. The degree of brand awareness of Lenzing Modal® is very high in the textile branch. One can no longer imagine international collections without this fiber.
TENCEL® is known as a natural functional fiber. The particularly good moisture absorption coupled with skin-sensitive properties make this special fiber attractive for many fields of application such as activewear, clothing for sensitive skin and home textiles such as bed wear.
Fiber harmony
The combination of these two fibers is very promising after all ProModal® offers softness and a high performance all in the same fiber. The special blending ratio and a TENCEL® fiber specially developed for this application make textiles of ProModal® unmistakable. In a blendomat specially calibrated for Lenzing, ProModal® is precisely blended gram by gram. This makes it possible to guarantee a homogeneous blend of both fibers as well as optimum quality. Lenzing is the only supplier of this fiber combination since only Lenzing produces both of these cellulose fibers.

Botanic – The basic principle
With ProModal® you can feel right away that the fiber blend comes from Nature. It makes sense because botanic principles are applied throughout its production process. Thus, there is naturalness in every textile of ProModal®. The basic botanic principle – photosynthesis – forms the basis of ProModal®. Wood, the raw material used for ProModal®, can only form as a result of photosynthesis.
Eco-compatibility across the board
ProModal® offers a variety of special features! One example is the complete integration of the production process which is totally unparalleled. Lenzing Modal® is manufactured from indigenous beech wood. The pulp used is produced at Lenzing. Therefore, Lenzing has control over the entire manufacturing process. This makes it possible to optimise each process step to ensure the best use of all of the substances employed, as well as the highest possible recovery rates.
The added TENCEL® fiber is very persuasive thanks to its revolutionary manufacturing process. TENCEL® is manufactured in a process that is based on solvent spinning. It represents the greatest accomplishment in cellulose fiber technology because of its closed loop production method.
Botanic principles are applied during the production of all Lenzing fibers. ProModal® is made of wood and thus originates from the world of plants.
PROMODAL® FOR THE SAKE OF THE ENVIRONMENT
Put to the test
By order of Lenzing AG, the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands carried out a life cycle analysis* of Lenzing fibers. The topics examined were over-fertilization, the excess acidity of the air, water and soil consumption, global warming and the effects on human health. Another important point was the consumption of non-renewable resources, which in the case of Lenzing, i.e. the raw material wood, is very small. The Lenzing site has proved itself to be particularly sustainable. As a result of synergy effects such as the integrated production of pulp, energy and fibers, it is possible to make optimum use of resources. The Utrecht study evaluated all of the environmental impacts caused by making fibers. Utrecht came to the conclusion that with cotton, the toxic load on fresh water and soil is enormous. Soil and water contamination are factors in growing cotton which are 100 times higher than with Lenzing fibers.

Unlike cotton, Lenzing fibers have very little impact on the human environment.
Fiber Yield
The yield of Lenzing fibers is up to six times higher than that of cotton.
Responsible treatment of the land
Timber from sustainably grown forest plantations is used for Lenzing fibers. This means that the land could not have been used for any other purpose. Cotton, on the other hand, requires agricultural land.
Water is life
Cotton needs up to 10-20 times more water than Lenzing fibers.
ProModal® and all other Lenzing fibers, are the eco-alternative to cotton.

A club for the best
A club has been founded to market ProModal®. The ProModal® Club comprises licensed fabric manufacturers from all over the world. The service for members offers technical support with regard to fabric production. An international team is at the service of members with regard to the production of ProModal® fabrics. Following the licensing of the collections (which is simultaneously authorization to use the ProModal® brand) help is given with regard to marketing and merchandising activities. At the same time the fabric licensing contains a quality test of the fabrics by Lenzing.
Marketing-Power with a competitive edge
The members of the club meet regularly and are informed about innovations and trends as well as concepts for marketing. The Lenzing Team, which is active all over the world, and represented in the USA, Asia and Europe is available to members for active merchandising.
ProModal® offers a competitive edge to all manufacturers. After all ProModal® is only sold by Lenzing. No other fiber manufacturer has ProModal® in its program since the fiber blend is made of fibers which can only be made at Lenzing. A patent has been registered for ProModal® in general and textile products from this.
Another ProModal® Club takes care of marketing. The international Lenzing Team is available to members.

The ProModal® fiber blend is 100% persuasive due to its higher volume. Even a blend with cotton can allow for new textile highlights. Above all, the blend’s moisture absorption is enhanced. This gives fabrics of ProModal® a tried and proven higher functionality.
ProModal® is an enhancer
When it comes to fabric production, ProModal® has a higher tear strength which can be transferred to the finished textile. Higher tear strength leads to greater process safety, making ProModal® a High-Quality fiber when it comes to finishing. Another important property is the bursting pressure. This is 20% higher than in standard Modal.
